Agents in Edmonton’s luxury real estate market are driving rapid growth

In the Edmonton luxury market, two names stand out: Kerri-lyn and Jason Holland. These professional and married partners have dominated the market for years, leading in sales and becoming sought-after agents for clients looking for their dream home in Alberta’s capital.

John Carter, broker/owner of Re/Max River City, where the Hollands operate in Edmonton, says, “In the last five years, they’ve basically dominated the luxury space, with sales almost double the next agent. They’ve hit a significant milestone and deserve real recognition for overall performance in a five-year span.”

Alberta has been attracting more people since the pandemic began, with residents seeking greater space and better value. While Calgary gets attention, Edmonton has seen an influx of residents as well. Carter notes that the luxury market, consisting of properties priced at $1 million and up, has been steadily growing over the last five years.

How Canadian luxury markets are faring

Industry studies reflect the opportunities in Edmonton and other Canadian locations. The 2024 Royal LePage Carriage Trade Luxury Market Report showed an increase in luxury sales, with strong demand in the prairies. Edmonton specifically saw a 39.7% increase in sales activity year over year.

According to Sotheby’s Top-Tier Real Estate: 2024 Mid-Year State of Luxury Report, population growth in Calgary (5.9%) and Edmonton (4.1%) has driven Alberta’s luxury markets to new heights.

Luxury sales are up across Canada, with Toronto, Ottawa, Halifax, and Vancouver performing better than expected in their luxury markets, as per Engel & Völkers 2024 Mid-Year Luxury Real Estate Market Report.
