Jason Wheeldon of Royal LePage East Kootenay Realty was recently honored with the King Charles III Coronation Medal for his long-standing dedication to volunteerism and community service in Cranbrook, British Columbia.
Kootenay MP Rob Morrison presented Wheeldon with the medal and certificate at his constituency office on September 9, recognizing his commitment to improving the community of Cranbrook.
Wheeldon’s community involvement
Wheeldon has been actively involved in various local initiatives, such as the annual Turkey Drive to support the Cranbrook Food Bank and the Salvation Army. He has also contributed to building local parks as a charter member of the Sunrise Rotary Club, coaching youth sports, and organizing local festivals.
In addition, Wheeldon is a part of organizations like the Kinsmen Club, Big Brothers and Sisters, the Canadian Mental Health Association, and the Cranbrook Youth Ambassador Program.
Family credited with much of his success
Reflecting on his journey, Jason shares: “It all started in 1993 when I became a Big Brother and led the Kin Clubs’ March of Dimes fundraiser. Since then, I’ve been fortunate to work on many impactful projects, like co-founding the Cranbrook Chamber Turkey Drive, which continues to make a difference for those in need. The growth of this initiative has been remarkable, and it’s a true community effort that inspires me every year.”
Wheeldon attributes much of his success to his family. Together with his wife, who initiated a backpack food program for local schools, they have been dedicated to supporting causes that are important to them. Their commitment to Cranbrook has set a strong example for their two daughters.
